What is a Circuit Breaker?
A circuit breaker is a safety feature that protects you and other traders during extreme price movements. Think of it like an emergency pause button that automatically activates when prices move too quickly.
When Does the Circuit Breaker Activate?
The circuit breaker will automatically trigger if a digital asset's price on KDX:
- Increases by 50% or more within 24 hours, OR
- Drops by 50% or more within 24 hours
The price change is measured against the last traded price before that 24-hour period began.
What Happens When It Triggers?
When the circuit breaker activates, all trading activities will pause immediately. During this pause:
- You cannot place new orders
- You cannot cancel existing orders
- Trading is completely stopped
How Long Does the Pause Last?
The trading pause is temporary and can last up to 4 hours. This gives the market time to stabilize.
What Happens to My Orders?
Completed Orders
If your order was already filled (completed) before the circuit breaker triggered, it will remain as is. Nothing changes for these orders.
Pending Orders
If your order was not yet completed (open or partially filled), it will:
- Stay in the order book
- Automatically resume when trading starts again
- Continue where it left off
How Will I Know if the Circuit Breaker is Activated?
KDX will notify all users immediately when a circuit breaker is triggered through:
- An announcement on our website at https://kdx.com.my/go/announcements
- Email notification to all users
The circuit breaker is designed to protect all traders during periods of extreme volatility. It helps ensure fair and orderly trading for everyone.
